Featuring Articles & Stories in the Danish Folk Tradition

Church and Life seeks to be consistent with the philosophy and theology of NFS Grundtvig. Grundtvig is known for his famous phrase: “Human first; then Christian”. Our common humanity is the basis for freedom, equality and dignity. Christ is found in the living community rather than in any book. Personal freedom and community are of the highest value. Sermons and articles published in Church and Life reflect this tradition .

1

Affirmation of life

The Grundtvigian tradition emphasizes the inherent value and joy found in simply being alive. This perspective encourages embracing the fullness of existence, with all its challenges and triumphs, as a divine gift to be cherished and nurtured.

2

Staying close to nature

Living harmoniously with the natural world, we acknowledge nature as a source of wisdom, renewal, and spiritual connection. By staying grounded in the rhythms and cycles of nature, we can cultivate a deeper understanding of our place within creation.

3

Goodness & beauty in the ordinary

In all the everyday moments that make up human existence, profound meaning and beauty can be found. From work and family life to community celebrations, ordinary experiences are seen as sacred and worthy of appreciation.

4

Lifelong learning & education

Education exists not merely as a phase of life but as an ongoing journey. This commitment to intellectual and personal growth reflects a belief in the transformative power of knowledge to enrich lives and foster a deeper understanding of oneself and the world.
